‘I knew Michael Olise was class at Spurs - it wasn’t his talent that stood out'

Arsenal U21s manager Mehmet Ali once suggested he was relieved Manchester United target Michael Olise did not join Tottenham Hotspur - and explained what stood out about him immediately.

But as he's getting older and maturing he's doing that.

Since Patrick Vieira made Olise his first signing as Crystal Palace manager in the summer of 2021, snapping him up for a bargain £8m, Olise has been one of the most exciting young stars in the Premier League. Despite being troubled by injuries this season, he contributed 10 goals and six assists in just 19 games for Palace.

"He is obviously a very good player, he hasn't made their squad, they might be taking him to the Olympics, I don't know. He is a player we should have an interest in because he is a very good player but there is no way you could do all of that in time for the Euros.”
