Huw Edwards 'one of the kindest colleagues' - 'there have always been two sides to the story'
"There have always been two sides to this story. We've seen one side courtesy of The Sun - and I make no criticism of The Sun for its reporting, which has genuinely set the agenda - but we haven't heard Huw Edwards' side of the story. Alastair Campbell, former spin doctor for Tony Blair and now a commentator, author and strategist, has offered his thoughts following the naming of Huw Edwards.
"Now we can publicly say Huw Edwards' name on air, that is the reason so many people have been keen for it to be clearer, given the context. "It's quite an upsetting statement from his wife, to hear again the impact it has had on his mental health. He has spoken of a 20-year struggle that he has had with depression; while we all know him for his professionalism, how witty he is, he has within the last year or so really opened up about the struggle he has had... talking about how it's been so bad at times he hasn't been able to get out of bed.
