Police were called to Sydenham Road at around 3.45pm after reports of suspicious activity in the area.
Shots were then heard and a man was found with gunshot wounds in front of horrified shoppers in the area.Officers remain at the scene and a hunt for the shooter has now been launched in the surrounding areas.There have been no arrests at this stage and enquiries are continuing to take place. Anyone with information about the incident is urged to contact the police by dialling 101 and quoting CAD 4860/8Sept.
The murder comes just under a week after a teenager, 18, was stabbed in death in West Ham, East London.
He shot himself.
