'Hungry and thirsty' dog found tied to Derby park bench

A charity is appealing for information after a "very thirsty and hungry" dog was found tied to a park bench.

The RSPCA said the adult female Akita was discovered with a rope tied around her neck in Shaftesbury Recreational Park, off Shaftesbury Street in Derby, on Tuesday morning.It has appealed to the public for help to find out what happened.RSPCA inspector Ann Bennett said: "We fear she had been outside all night as she was wet through.

"Food and water were provided in bowls by a member of the public and she was very thirsty and hungry.The dog was not microchipped, the charity said, adding calls about abandonment and neglect had risen due to the cost-of-living crisis.

Derby. Say no more.

That's so sad. I do hope it was a stolen dog that someone left so the real owners finally get their pup back, if not I don't understand why someone would do this to that poor pupper. My dogs are my life I would go without for them. I hope that pup finds a lovely home

What a shame, but I can't believe that a dog left tied to a park bench is actually a news story. Not trying to be heartless but there is so much sh1t going on, it just seems so trivial.

B*ST*RDS!!!!!! There are some disgusting, vile, shameful people out there, how could anyone do this to a helpless animal.

It never seems to amaze me cruelty by pet owners why have an animal if your going to treat it badly or dump it,dog shelters would take it off your hands if you can no longer take care of it I know the cost of living has hit some much harder than others but don’t be cruel please.

Hopefully it’s chipped and the owners can be traced but it’s unlikely.

So sad.
