Hungary player Barnabas Varga is stable in hospital after he was stretchered off the pitch in the country's Euro 2024 match against Scotland. The Hungary forward went down in the second half after an apparent clash with Scotland's goalkeeper Angus Gunn following a free kick. Hungary players quickly signalled Varga was in trouble and were incensed by the time the medical teams were taking to get over to help treat the player.
The Hungary team formed a shield around Varga while he received treatment and TV cameras panned away. The game was held up as Varga required lengthy treatment. After several minutes, Varga was eventually taken away on a stretcher as both sets of fans applauded. He has since been taken to hospital, where he is said to be stable. A statement from the Hungarian Football Federation read: 'Barnabas Varga's condition is stable.
