Nearly a thousand homes in Nottinghamshire have been left without power in a major outage during the ongoing heatwave. Western Power have said a fault, which was reported at 3.51pm on Monday, July 18, has shut off power to 971 properties in the NG13 postcode area around Bingham.
They have said their engineers were dispatched shortly after to examine the fault. The reason for the outage is a fault in Western Power's overhead network, and the provider added that households' supply may go off and on while work is carried out to resolve this. A conservative estimate would mean it's likely that hundreds of houses are struggling to power fans from the mains.
On their website, Western Power said: "We are aware of this power cut incident which was raised at 3:51pm this afternoon and our engineers are working to get the power returned as quickly as possible. We are sorry for any inconvenience this is causing you."Officials hope the situation will be resolved by 6pm.
