Humza Yousaf has written to Anas Sarwar demanding he orders Scottish Labour ’s two MPs to back a ceasefire in Gaza . The SNP has tabled an amendment to the King’s Speech which is expected to go to a crunch Commons vote on Wednesday.
“People in Scotland want a ceasefire, that is why it is crucial that Scottish Labour’s two MPs vote in line with the humanitarian stance supported by their leader, Anas Sarwar, which reflects mainstream opinion at home and abroad. A failure to do so will condemn those MPs as being on the wrong side of history.”
When the Commons’ king’s speech debate comes to an end on Wednesday, it is likely there will be a vote on the SNP’s amendment. It calls on the government to “join with the international community in urgently pressing all parties to agree to an immediate ceasefire”.
