Huge rise in non-EU migrants to Britain

Home Office immigration figures for the whole of last year revealed there were 239,987 work-related visas granted, 25 per cent higher than in 2019, the last full year before the pandemic. Less than a tenth were EU migrants, who had to obtain a visa from January last year after the end of freedom of movement.The main driver of the sharp increase in work-related immigration since 2019 came from migrants from outside the EU.

Good the rules are fair now these migrants would have been locked out because the europeans had a free pass

More Americans coming to work and study in the UK than French, Italians, and Germans combined, never thought I would see the day.

I remember the vote leave politicians saying during the referendum campaign that we needed a more even handed approach which would allow more non Europeans to come here.

Excellent, and since Leave voters are, as they kept assuring us, in no way racist or xenophobic they will doubtless be the first to welcome these talented and hard-working new citizens and their very much needed, skills.

This will be cheered by all the Brexiters who keep telling us their vote was nothing to do with race or immigration.
