The Beatles Story teamed up with instrument manufacturer Höfner to celebrate the music legend’s 80th year with the launch of the art installation. The Beatles-themed exhibition has marked his milestone year with the unique Insta-worthy statue, which resembles a gigantic 1962 Höfner bass guitar.
With ties to music therapy charity Nordoff Robbins, The Beatles Story hopes to shine a spotlight on the valuable work they do. Nordoff Robbins stands for music and believes in the value of music for all people in our society. Their vision is to live in a world where, through music therapy, human potential is recognised regardless of profound disability, illness, or social exclusion.
Paul McCartney himself is a supporter of Nordoff Robbins and first visited the charity’s London centre in 1986. In 1988, Paul received a Silver Clef Award, in recognition of his work with them and in the same year he donated an autographed Höfner bass guitar. Nick Wass, Höfner GmbH said: “We are very pleased, here at Höfner, to once again collaborate with our friends at The Beatles Story, especially to celebrate Paul McCartney’s 80th birthday. When they came to us with the idea for a special art installation we were thrilled. The designers have done a fantastic job, creating a piece of art truly worthy of the occasion. What can I say?
