Huawei says willing to sign 'no-spy' agreements

Getty Images

Huawei is"willing to sign no-spy agreements with governments" including the UK, its chairman Liang Hua said. It follows concerns from some countries that China could use products made by the telecoms firm for surveillance.Huawei has also said it is independent from the Chinese government, but some countries have blocked it from their 5G networks on national security grounds.

"We are willing to sign no-spy agreements with governments, including the UK government, to commit ourselves to making our equipment meet the no-spy, no-backdoors standard," Liang Hua said at a business conference in London via an interpreter.

China: We promise not to spy, promise, promise, promise! UK: Yay 🤤... Wait, what are you doing looking in that filing cabinet? China: 😳 ummm, looking for Jaffa Cakes? UK: Yay, I will make the tea! 🤤 Bah! The machine wants my card PIN. 🤔 China: It's 1234... UK: Tyvm! 🤤

😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂BEST JOKE EVER!!!!!!!!!

Oh that’s ok then

Ha ha. Funny.

That’s ok then. Pity we are to thick to do it ourselves. Who sold off BT.

We should not sign this unequal treaty

So if they sign an agreement saying “..we are all going to be very good boys and promise not to be spies (scouts’ honour dib dib)..” that we believe them? Give me a bloody break!!!!

ALL SPYES SHOULD SIGN ONE OF THESE, SO WE KNOW WHO THEY ARE, I THINK THE COUNTRIES THEY ARE FROM WOULD BE A SURPRISE!!

Haha. Well that’s okay then! We can now trust them completely - can’t we?

'We agree not to spy on you.' But if they are spies, would they tell the truth?

Yeh right, hands up who thinks such a clause will stop them from passing information to the Chinese government?

Even their name is smoke and mirrors; 'Who are we?'

Get some of those 5G gizmo thingys and copy them, ya know, like they do in say China😉

well thats ok then !

Ok they will agree not to develop a spying capability, just buy in one from Israeli military

'Wee promise not to spy...honestly. Scouts honour. And if we do, it wasn't us.' Good. Sorted... YIKES.

Haven't we learnt yet that to boost our once great nation and reduce carbon emissions we have to stop buying Chinese stuff and make it ourselves...

Isn’t spying based on duplicity stealth double cross and out and out lying and smoking mirrors, contracts mean nothing in that game.

That isn't worth the paper it is written on. If their government wanted the data or want ability to use their tech to spy they wud have 2 comply. The only way this is going 2b resolved if China changes.

we seem to be incapable of doing anything for ourselves. the once mighty workshop of the world sold off to the highest bidder-remember sell! sell! sell!

Wait, will this be 'Enshrined in UK law' too? Because that's a reliable line isn't it.

And you believe in their integrity?

Oh that’s alright then! LOL

It’s it then sorted. We have an agreement .....

They can sign all the agreements they like but that doesn't mean they won't do it,, or be complicit in someone else doing it. There's no sanction that any non-Chinese government could apply if they were in breach of those agreements anyway.

Right.... because signing something means it will happen

What if they cross their fingers when signing?

Even discussing no spy orders should immediately preclude Huawei

Best joke of the year so far 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

Scouts Honour

And Germany signed a non-aggression treaty with the Soviet Union Barbarossa

Yeah.. Because that’ll stop em..!!

Oh thats alright then!!

Oh well, if they sign a piece of paper they definitely wouldn't do it, would they?

Hmmm so a tech giant needs to sign a no spy agreement. But the biggest spies are the governments. Especially the USA and uk.

We promise not to spy, written in crayon. Sounds bullet proof

😂😂😂😂😂

Probably as effective as those non aggression pacts prior to ww2

This is hilarious..... it's like the worst spy film ever.... it's like a shark saying come swimming with me... I promise I won't bite you.... honest

Neville Chamberlain 1938 I have here a piece of paper signed by ...........

As if.

Because, obviously, China will not break that agreement...

How fucking stupid I believed my local Chinese take a way was putting chicken in there chicken dishes until local cats started going missing bad move

When has spying become a case of 'lies or truth' !!

Mistake

Lol

How can any country seriously hand over its national security infrastructure to ANY foreign country? It’s beyond belief! We have the skills let’s do it ourselves

Get a person who knows the Chinese language used in the agreement to study the fine print.

would kind of think that ought to have been in the initial agreement 🤔

Right. Because such an agreement has never been ignored before.

Didn’t they say don’t look to pandora?

So what? Who believes it? Guess China (a country run by a mafia style, criminal facist dictatorship) would also sign such a commitment? Both equally meaningless. How much do people get paid for broadcasting such lying propaganda?

Although highly commendably & extremely well intentioned such a guarantee is still subjected to Chinese government control especially in the current situation of China's claims in SE Asian & the gradual democratisation of Hong Kong against the agreement with the UK

Hell, I'd trust them if they signed that! Now, where are my meds...?

Funny

Agreements are worthless if they dont comply. What's the result of they are caught spying?

Are the USA willing to sign the same deal? As it's been proven that they are the biggest spies and invaders of privacy on the planet.

. That's like these phone apps that will ask for your permission for access to personal info. It doesn't matter if you say yes or no. What's to stop them .

If our intelligence says its OK then if we cave it's from American bullying I see no reason why we should favour America over China Given their broken democracy domestic social extremism domestic gun slaughter political economic bullying world wide CIA and military presence.

😂 who trusts?

The very need to consider such a thing, means we shouldn't bother.. No smoke without fire, and all that....

NO

The no spy agreements would still be inconsistent with Chinese law and therefore completely worthless.

Cross their heart and hope to die? Did anybody check they didn't cross their fingers when they said it?

Hahahaha. Like that means anything. Sorry we broke the agreement and instead spied on 60 million people. The temptation man. Sorry.

Too funny. Anyone who is going to spy is not going to admit that they are going to spy. This is in The Dummies Guide to Spying.

Hahahaha

Of course they'd do it

Too bad you live and work in a communist state and don’t have final say

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Would Margaret Thatcher have taken the US side against Huawei? Not necessarily | Tim BaleThe US has invoked the Iron Lady in its beef with China, but she was a pragmatist, says the politics professor Tim Bale “You will be privatized!” “Don’t you mean ‘liquidated’?” “It’s the same thing!” More than any other politician since, Maggie Thatcher was sharp as a razor and she despised consensus. Why doesn’t Britain have a Huawei of its own? The answer speaks volumes | Aditya ChakraborttyTwo decades ago, the General Electric Company was a global tech titan, says Guardian columnist Aditya Chakrabortty So what happened is that an accountant sold off the company during the labour years. Sounds about right. I remember an interview with the GEC FD in 1998 or so. He was SO excited about the future; how they were buying internet companies and hiring all these whizz-kids and were going to overtake Cisco as the internet backbone. Even to me then it sounded a bit mad. Britain lacks the drive and enterprenuerial skills to turn R&D which Britain has plenty of and scientific brilliance which Britain also has plenty of into commercial successes unlike America and Japan and Germany and especially China.
