jon_bartley Alternatively, we can just carry on as we are and destroy the entire planet. Transport now emits more CO2 than any other sector in the UK. We need to ditch cars and planes in favour of trains. Anyone know how to achieve this transformationally without HS2?
The motorways that will have to be built if HS2 is cancelled will destroy far, far more and be more polluting.
They don't care... getting to London 10 minutes earlier is far more important.....
So if you take out the Birmingham to Manchester/Liverpool element... Which currently appears to have zero chance of being built...how does it look then?
