With the general election date confirmed and not too far away, here are your key questions answered about who can vote and how to register.

Rishi Sunak has called a general election for 4 July. That leaves people who aren't yet eligible with enough time to get themselves on the electoral register. But considering over a million people applied to vote or updated their details in the week leading up to the last general election, perhaps it's better to avoid the rush this time around. Here's everything you need to know about how to register so that you can cast a vote to choose your local MP.

You can look at the guidance here. How can I register? The easiest and quickest way is to do it online. Alternatively, you can use a paper form. You can do this by contacting your local Electoral Registration Office and asking them to post a form to you. Or, you can print your own form off here. You'll then need to return the completed form to your local Electoral Registration Office. There are different forms if you live in Northern Ireland.
