How the Ukraine war is worsening the food crisis for millions of starving Afghans 🔴 Jamaludin*, a local aid worker in Afghanistan, says the loss of millions of tonnes of wheat has left people teetering on the brink of starvation.

We have some stability and peace in our country now, but the future is very uncertain.After last year’s drought and hunger, we had everything pinned on this year’s harvest. But there was no rain in the rainy season, and the harvest was spoiled by the sun.And we areAfghanistan does not produce enough food to feed its people.

Kazakhstan and India have banned wheat leaving their countries, in order to protect their own people and markets – regrettably these two countries are where Afghanistan imported most of its wheat from before the crisis in Ukraine.
