Flocks of airborne robots are being developed, able to collaborate and overwhelm enemy defences.

The swarm robots are coming and they could change the way wars are fought.

Low-cost, intelligent and inspired by swarms of insects, these new machines could revolutionise future conflicts. "If you imagine a football match, a coach isn't going to tell the players from the sidelines exactly where to run and what to do," says Paul Scharre from the Center for a New American Security think tank.

Swarms come in different shapes and sizes. The US Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency , for example, has been working on a programme dubbed "Swarming allows you to build large numbers of low-cost expendable agents that can be used to overwhelm an adversary," says Mr Scharre."This reverses the long trend of rising aircraft costs and reducing quantities.

"In a natural swarm of birds or bees, all individuals are doing their own thing. Each one has its own brain, knows what it can see for itself," he says."You don't have an explicit hive mind. The queen bee is not giving instructions to everyone. One robotic construction project run at Harvard

a plague of locust

Do you want skynet? Because this is how you get skynet!

Part 2 will be, 'how a portable emp emitter will vanquish the swarms of drones with the push of a button'.

Jest put up nets to protect your city’s simple, end of drones,

We can test the drones in Venezuela, in Muraflores were Maduro is.

Maybe we can shoot them out off the air? More fun than shooting Clay pretend pigeons 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♀️

🧐

'BE CAREFULL, THESE DRONES MAYBE CARRYING CLAYMORES, C-4'S, PIPEBOMBS, DYNOMITE, GRENADES AND TIME BOMBS!!!'

The MOD will be defeated not by an external enemy, but the compliance and health & safety brigade here. “you can only fly using line of sight & you can only use drones 1.5 miles away from everything outlined in subsection 4.1.7 para 13 & no drones after 17.00hrs” we surrender!🙁

Please make a boatload of swarming drones that hone in on Nitrous Oxide/Versed airborne gas, then deploy a small spark. Then, national security agents will just need to show up with some large, wheeled cans, cleaner dogs, Windex & handi-wipes when the SAGcoup bastards burst.

recommendation

Primarily designed for crowd control. The enemy is the people.

When even a suspected presence of a drone can close an airport to flights we are totally ill prepared to defend against them.

Skynets well on its way to soon becoming a reality. If the criminals and terrorists can ever access and leverage this tech, as they have with the internet and latterly social media, then people, we are all in dead trouble!!

Yes, they have proven effective at neutralizing airfields.

Oh brilliant, more killing machines! Let us put our energy into helping the planet, not destroying it. Grow up BBC.
