How Maple Leafs fans feel about Shanahan and Keefe after another playoff collapse

For just over 24 hours, The Athletic let fans have their say. And man, did you ever have a lot on your minds. Over 2,000 respondents chimed in on short notice, often vociferously, about everything from Leafs president Brendan Shanahan, coach Sheldon Keefe, the team’s stars and the organization’s future. We know you want the results, so here they are. A tight two-horse race between giving up and already having given up: Welcome to the Maple Leafs fan experience in 2024! Look, I get it.

I’m not sure which was more perplexing about the results of this question. That there were people who wanted to see the singularly most talented Leaf of all-time, , move this summer — or that fewer people wanted to see moved than Matthews. Quite the change from a few years ago, when Nylander drew most of the ire from Leafs fans and many were scheming up ways to ship him out of town for whatever No. 1 defenceman they thought was easily acquirable.
