The Audition Room: Kadiff Kirwan on how he landed roles in Black Mirror, Timewasters and Detective Pikachu

Landing yourself your dream role is a lot harder than most make it appear, but if you can nail that one game-changing audition, then the world is your oyster.

In an exclusive interview, we grilled Kadiff on the process behind him landing jobs in some of the UK’s most loved series, the Hollywood blockbusters he’s also got under his belt, and the best way to leave an impression…Advertisement The role was actually a lot smarter in the initial reading. The role has changed in respect that he wasn’t as thick as he is now! Which I don’t know is a good or a bad thing! But he was a little bit smarter and over the years he’s got slightly dimmer, but he’s a lot of fun to play, so I don’t actually mind!’Advertisement‘I didn’t actually audition for that! Thankfully, I worked with the director, Josie Rourke, three times already on productions for the Donmar Warehouse [theatre].

[Michaela] will do whatever is necessary to make a success of the piece, and thankfully I was necessary! Always meet in the room with the producer and the director. I think that trumps any kind of self-tape or anything.
