want you to call them angel. Eighteen years after Destiny's Child unleashed their iconic "Independent Women" video, and after days of social media teasers, the full, big-budget video for the collaboration between three of music's hottest properties has finally been released in full. So, how does it compare to Beyoncé and co's classic?
What the two efforts have in common is, chiefly, co-ordinating outfits – although Destiny's Child's gold lamé and 1970s-inspired prints have been replaced with ample amounts of black leather and body-con for the reboot. Cyrus, who is seen taking a man to task in a boxing ring in the video for "Don't Call Me Angel", teams black wings with her now signature thigh-high boots and heavy-duty chains. Grande's take is more R&B princess. Think: white wings, crystal-encrusted corset dress, similarly sparkly accessories and white boots.
In scenes together, the trio sport co-ordinating black looks, each with their own individual twist – leather trousers and hardware for Cyrus, a body-con dress for Grande and an LBD for Del Rey. If the slick video is any indication of what we can expect from the hotly-anticipated 2019 reboot, which stars Kristen Stewart, Ella Balinska and Naomi Scott, fans should be prepared for helicopter fly-pasts, high-tech weaponry, and plenty of girl power. Our favourite bit? A surprise cameo from the movie's director Elizabeth Banks, who interrupts the girls as they're tucking into a banquet inside a palatial mansion to declare: "Time to go to work.
