Transfer talk is top of the Hotline agenda as Fraser Wilson mans the phones.

It's not called silly season for nothing - and the summer transfer window has certainly brought the Hotline banter merchants back to the fore. Not that everyone is laughing. Whether it’s the value of Celtic midfielder Matt O’Riley, the lack of arrivals at Parkhead or the quality of those in the door at Rangers, there was no end to the petty point scoring as punters count down the days to the start of the new season.

Douglas McFadzean, Giffnock, added: “Message to Chris Lowe - whatever O'Riley's value is or is not, one thing is certain, it will ace the money that failed to tumble into his team’s accounts regarding the shocking failures of his very own directors.” Meanwhile, Hoops fan Scott McAdam, Glasgow, isn’t concerned about the lack of arrivals at his club. He said: “The reason Celtic haven’t bought anyone is their targets are still at the Euros. Once it’s finished we will see players coming in.

Scott Gowers, Edinburgh, said: “Caller Tam Williamson seems to be thinking Rangers’ cheap signings are nonentities. He should remember the cheap Japanese nonentities Celtic signed turned up trumps. The statement may be true but these players may turn out to be world greats, we won't really know until the season's up and running.” Caller Eddie Easson said Rangers should be fined for having to move fixtures away from Ibrox due to the delay in renovating the Copland Road end.

And John Bruce added: “Just as when Rangers were going through their financial troubles, there are queues of people lining up to have a kick at them as they see them to be down due to the delays in the stadium upgrade. Whilst far from ideal, the current situation is a mere blip compared to 2012 and the Rangers fans will see this through - just as they did then - as they have much to look forward to in the new season with the new players already here and those yet to arrive.
