hmvtweets simon_price01 Support HMV, go browse, buy in the high street, support your store!

I passed the Oxford St branch of hmvOxfordStreet this morning. Staff were outside their locked shop giving each other hugs.. I paused and watch for a moment and felt for them. hmvcanada
At least poole isn't in the list to close.
Glad my local (Brighton) store and the other store I go to fairly frequently (Colchester) are still open. Any time I go in, I buy at least £40 of Doctor Who DVDs, so it's convenient, and I can help support the business a bit. I'd buy more from them but I have no money.
What happens to the stock in the shops that closed immediately today? Surely they should be allowed to sell discounted to get rid. No other shops are gonna want that extra stock in their stockrooms from store transfers?
HorrorReader Cant abide HMV anymore. Used to like them. Not as much as Music Zone but hey. HMV silly prices and all my local stores are closed anyway. Only saving grace, i bought the Hitchcock boxset quite a few yrs back for 4.99 instore coz some dippy employee labelled it wrong 😂
This is good news, though obviously not for the many staff who will be affected by the job closures. In spite of all this talk of streaming there still is a market for physical copies.
really hope the Redditch store is safe? x
jammasound Please tell me this saves my home for 4K Blu-Rays!
Great news they have been saved. They need to vastly update their website. Not just physical copies to buy online, digital copies, and also music t-shirts etc... I buy the physical copy, but the younger generation like the digital. Apple and Amazon have offered that for years.
Good news but it's dead in the water.
This is what Ghanaians need in our country
Fabulous news :-)
Brilliant news 👍
hmvtweets is safe? YES! 💜
this is going to turn into a blood bath with companies leaving Britain
Love HMV, but they have to drop prices.
Go out there and show your love for H.M.V. buy a Record or two, a few D.V.Ds. Love to H.M.V. the reason I love Music and Anime... plus older Horror Films.. keeptheHMVdreamalive
Good news now they'll new stock in
This is excellent news. HMV is a great alternative to Amazon and Blu Ray prices are always competitive and the icing on the cake is Mike Ashley lost the bid. They need to improve their online store though
Excellent news that the majority of shops are saved and the HMV brand is being kept. They need to ditch the electrical stuff such as headphones etc. and as he says put in more vinyl which probably has a better mark up than CDs.
I'm thrilled to see hmvtweets has been saved. Yes, it comes at a cost but Doug Putman knows there is still a place for a major music retailer on the High Street and the decision to sell more records is the right one. 👍 sunriserecords
Sunrise he brings in the morning
musicandwords Would like to feel enthusiastic but am falling short: HMV has been circling the drain for years and not been able to reengineer itself so this seems temporary at best, or an asset strip at worst. Or maybe some cobbled together pseudo-relaunch à la Maplin? WHSmith next?
Glad to hear the news. 😊
Maybe if they were allowed to sell hypnotic drugs in their stores they could make a go of it.
Great news 📀 🥂🍾 ... 😀👍

Fopp stores going to be ok?
Brilliant news for the workers .
Who the hell buys dvd and cds anymore? Or is it they year 2000?
BBCScotlandNews Great news! Horrible to see anyone lose their job through no fault of their own. Will be a sense of relief for many staff.
Excellent outcome for HMV; one more shop saved from high street closure. But they do really need to up their internet business across the board - at the moment it is very, very limited and offers absolutely no competition to Amazon and other mail order companies.
Superb news, as much for Fopp as for anything else. An Aladdin’s cave of blu-ray goodness.
Why? It's dead in the water.
for how long-seen it all before-downsizers and asset strippers
I cannot see how they could possibly survive unless they totally reinvent themselves.
Let's hope they review the business model and drop sometimes. Games online £26. Same game in HMV £60. Wonder why sales are down.
Yes, that’s great news. Love my HMV
