A closed chain restaurant at a Nottinghamshire retail park could soon get a new lease of life as new plans surface. A planning application has been submitted by The Crown Estate, which owns the Victoria Retail Park in Netherfield, to slightly change the use of the former Frankie & Benny's restaurant in preparation for a new occupant.
The Frankie & Benny’s site was shut during the chain's recent set of closures which included other locations in Nottingham city centre, Sutton-in-Ashfield and Mansfield. Although the proposed change would keep the unit as a restaurant, the current proposals would alter which businesses can work from the premises.
Although the potential occupant of the unit has not been specified in planning documents, the application has suggested the new use would create new jobs. The planning application, if implemented, would create six full-time and nine part-time roles, the document said.Victoria Retail Park, off Colwick Loop Road, is a popular choice for shoppers with a variety of stores including Next, Boots, M&S and Halfords.
It cannot be sold and any revenue gained from it does not go directly to the monarch. It is managed by an independent organisation and any excess revenue is paid to the treasury.
