Why do Hornby's books get so horribly adapted for the screen? The Cusack movie is the only half decent one and if they are going to the trouble of remaking it they might at least have brought it back to London where it is supposed to be set 😠
Actors should give up on sequel/prequel/remake/series mentality of Hollywood et al., just get a decent Mac and go shoot some actual films. Yes sometimes reinventing the wheel from scratch is exactly what's needed. Nothing new under the sun? Let's find out for a change.

I am bitterly disappointed that they remade this. It was glorious in original form, both book and film. I don't believe for a second that we have run out of original ideas, I think Hulu is the utter definition of lazy at this point.

Why was this a idea worth pursuing with a new cast? The whole point of the film is the knowledge of Cusack's character tied to a lifetime of music and how it relates to his own life. Zoe Kravitz hasn't even lived long enough to appreciate half the music her character likes.
I thought the whole point of the original film was that a man with a decent life can still whine and bitch about it and make it worse through his own neurosis.
