A long-forgotten World War II defence bunker was unearthed on an Aberdeenshire beach after a huge storm. The wild weather overnight caused the concrete structure to be found on Blackdog Beach on March 21, 2023, by Alan Neave during a dog walk.
Alan, who often strolls along the beach with his dog, said at the time: "It's only appeared in the last couple of weeks. We were quite surprised it just came out of the blue one day. Top news stories today The pillboxes were built as temporary defence measures between 1940 and 1941. It is not the first historical discovery for Alan, chairman of the local residents' association, who has previously found a shipwreck and an unexploded mine on the beach.
