Matthew Squires was almost run over by a selfish driver who passed his school bus after it pulled over to let him off
His mother Christina Beardsley also heaped praise on Samantha’s quick-thinking, saying: ‘I cried, I honestly cried. ‘If she hadn’t been so vigilant and looking behind her bus, because no one really thinks of someone coming on the door-side of the busCall herself said she was shaken by the near-miss, and has called on drivers to think of the potential consequences of passing a parked school bus.
She said: ‘When I first seen it and I actually had time to sit down and look, all I could think of was, what if I didn’t get him? Bus driver Samantha Call has been hailed as a hero after her quick-thinking saved Matthew from being struck ‘I’m so glad I was able to send him home to his mom, cause I don’t know if I could have gotten back on that bus had I not been able to. I don’t think I could ever touch a school bus again.’
