poirot_sophie My thoughts: Home of the brave. Land of the free. 🙏

That's actually really sad. 😢

So he's there illegally and he's an ex convict. Why am I supposed to sympathise?

He has been in prison for 22 years, he should be deported, what a terrible story, he is lucky he was in the country that long.

Modern America where no virtue goes unpunished

showgrinsgirl Just because this comes from a British rag/or is posted by a British person it doesnt mean that they are trying to compare the USA unfavorably with UK! The focus here should be the human aspect of it, not which country has a more compassionate policy to migrants FFS!

People who do there bit and contribute to the society they live in should be allowed to stay. People who are just a drain shouldn’t.

MIGRATION at the service of a cosmopolitanism-FINANCIAL to replace CITIZEN by VARIABLE OF ADJUSTMENT-CONSUMER for a less societal ambition & + PROFITS MIGRATION generated by support, ARMS SALE to vitiated, corrupt regimes but MORALIZED by making guilty of racism all questioning

MAL!!!

They can serve 4 yrs in army but still be deported. Get over it.

All naturalized citizens of the USA can lose their citizenship right if they commit a felony; a good deed at the end of his prison term does not wipe away that fact.

This is insanity

I never understand these kind of stories. He helped fighting fires. So we should feel bad that he was in the US illegally? Why is that important? He should go back to Laos. He should fight fires there.

HEADLINE: Former gang member fought Californian Wildfires while in prison and now faces deportation to his country of origin. If he is such an outstanding person now, he can help in Laos. Or are we xenophobe and hypocrite about Laos & consider it a shit hole country?

😎👁🔥

Wtf country is this?

What can be done to help?

It is really really unfair to deport such a person who has risked his life fighting the wildfires. I think he should be rewarded by the US and should be paid a lot of money for what he has done. People will follow him. If he should be deported, nobody else would follow.

Nice, don't you have similar issues in the UK?

Thanks Trump 🤦🏿‍♂️

Biden’s issue

This hurts my heart. Nasty comments make it hurt even more. Be nice, friends. Have a heart.

Weird how the Guardian never runs sob stories on the vicious MS13 gang members who are deported.

Not ok

Rules are rules. Send him away.

Injustice.

Tell Biden

Give him papers!

Nice emotional argument that I don't give a shit about.

Of course he does. Because...America.

Sickening.

We need more deportations to get illegal immigrants out and tougher restrictions to stop them getting in.

Welp don't be an illegal/undocumented
