'After spending a traumatic night in hospital, I'm left wondering what happened to compassionate care'

I nearly died last week. At least it felt that way. The GP prescribed some antibiotics over the phone and I took one after dinner while we were watching TV. How long before I realised? Maybe 15 minutes. A sudden awareness that something was desperately, catastrophically wrong. I managed to scrabble upstairs and took a Piriton tablet. Thank God for instinct. Himself, somewhat bemused, had followed me.

Try working for a living, it takes its toll. Our nurses are the best in the World, my Mother and Sister are testament to the fact. BUPA’s out there if the inimitable NHS isn’t good enough for you and your Fake News bullshit 🙄

lets get HelpJenksy trending, Please help this family who the NHS failed thanks to MattHancock and BorisJohnson criminal NHS pandemic policies that meant people couldn't get the treatment they needed. Please share across twitter and social media

My last visit was for emergency surgery was a catalogue of disasters from A&E through to the ward and surgery. I'm not a demanding person but I wasnt impressed with the attitude of the nurses when I asked for some minor post surgery assistance. ( Tramadol doesn't agree with me)

So now the telegraph are attacking nurses. There is no bottom to their barrel.

Diversity

Nursing should be a vocation, but there does seem to be a generation of employees who view it just as a job. Granted, they are underpaid and over worked. But we can't allow the NHS to be seen as - care is now rare! Thankfully, there are good Nurses, but issues seem to be rising.

NHS.

Probably years of being starved of funds, patronized and ignored by tory govts, especially with appeals for more resources and decent wage increases.... Now being flogged to death with stuttering inept leadership too. Could that, maybe poss have something to do with it...?

I had the most vile experience with the staff at qehbham when my mom was admitted with a TIA. They tried discharging her alone between 11pm & 1am when she was incoherent. They were rude, unprofessional, uncaring and the consultant told multiple lies & gave me a false name 😡

7 months of unpaid night and emergency shifts do tend to wear you out.

I'm living with PTSD as a direct result of the way I was treated by midwives and hospital staff during childbirth. My life has been ruined. I have no quality of life anymore. Not even so much as an apology from them. They actually bullied me into not making a complaint.

Am on day 6 in hospital. Have had surgery on a fractured spine. Have been in two hospitals and have to say that there has been nothing but love, compassion and attention.

Biden & Carter Why USA Democrats & British Old sly Fox Diplomacy 1978 & ideology of left its destructive map which led to rise of criminal sect Islamic_Republic savage regime Globalists a system in which control over all human civilization Freemasons

you will find that most hospitals run like a hierarchy you only have to sit in the staff canteen of some to see they seperate off like a prison gangs in prison

I empathise - I spent a very uncomfortable 3 days in hospital back in 2001 - I could write a book abt it. They, the nurses, refused to give me any painkillers on the grounds that I 'might' become addicted - no compassion whatsoever.

Yes, there is truth in that - from experience of how my elderly mother was treated the only compassion she got was from the tea lady. Nurses seem to no longer be there to care and be compassionate. There are plenty of people who would love to nurse, but the job has been changed.

My daughter, who has a phobia of anything medical, has had to attend A&E 3 times this week and was very poorly. Apart from one person, her care was exemplary and compassionate, treating her symptoms whilst recognising her anxiety. She is so grateful and so are we.

I had quite a long period in hospital and I definitely have a certain degree of sympathy with this thinking.

Can't agree with that I have marvellous treatment for last 7 months.they are sweet, kind, and caring.

Probably recognised you

No, they are suffering PTSD!

It used to be a career, now its just a job. I have no faith in the NHS at all now. I have been spoiled by the French health system which is far superior and treats you with respect and choice.
