TV chef Si King has revealed that an estimated 20,000 people will be participating in Dave Day, a tribute event for his late best friend and fellow Hairy Biker, Dave Myers . Dave, who earned a reputation as one half of the motorcycle-riding cooking duo with Si, tragically passed away in February at the age of 66 after battling cancer.
While speaking on BBC Breakfast, Si King indicated that the event would certainly be a "celebration of my best friend that we've lost" whilst acknowledging that it's bound to get "very emotional". Si ended by stating how unpredictable such events can be, confessing: "You never know how these things are going to impact you, you know, it is a celebration of Dave's life."
Si also reflected on the essence of motorcycling: "That's the whole thing about a journey, because motorcycling isn't about A to B, it's about the bit in the middle and that's the bit of life that we all celebrate. That's what it's about." Lili fondly remembered her husband's passion for cooking, saying, "He always cooked, that was his territory. I wasn't allowed in the kitchen, just to clean the kitchen and, I tell you, he would cook for an hour, I will clean for two. He knew how to create a moment. That was his forte."
