Gove says government guidance partly to blame for Grenfell

The inquiry into the fire - in which 72 people died - is expected to report later this yearFlawed government guidance on building standards was partly to blame for the Grenfell Tower fire, Housing Secretary Michael Gove has said.

Mr Gove said there was also an "active willingness" on the part of developers to endanger lives for profit. Evidence at the inquiry showed official guidance was widely seen to allow flammable cladding on tower blocks. The government had previously of technical advice that had been criticised for not making clear that combustible cladding panels should not be used on tall buildings.whether he now accepts the guidance was wrong, Mr Gove said: "Yes. The government did not think hard enough, or police effectively enough, the whole system of building safety."

Should took them down What sort person going feel comfortable know people burn a live in flat they liveing in

As Regan said “I’m from the government, and I’m here to help” are the scariest words you can hear.

If you can accept that the cladding had falsified fire retardant data which allowed it to be sold but risked the lives of the public then it is quite easy to accept how the covid vaccines followed the same pattern.

Regulators & industry long fudged the ‘flame retardant’ foam insulation that didn’t catch fire in a lab test with a match, but would combust catastrophically in a real fire. Only stone mineral wool (Rockwool) had a ‘fire-proof’ performance, but wasn’t allowed to corner the market

No shit. I was a housing officer in the 90s. The fire service inspected our tower blocks each year. That requirement was scrapped. Building regulations kept changing and weakening but now you had no one with a knowledge of fire risk overseeing it. We still don't.

So who's going to prison for all those deaths then?

FFS! When are they going to do right?. Windrush, Grenfell, Child migrants. It's everything.

Human error combined with Greed was to blame. Same combination is why loads of people are dying suddenly because of thr vaccine.

'Faulty and ambiguous' government guidance partially to blame for Grenfell Tower tragedy, Michael Gove admitsMr Gove, the housing secretary, has said in an interview that the guidance allowed 'unscrupulous people' to 'exploit a broken system in a way that led to tragedy'. Labour had years to do something about this too, but the MSM are just going to recycle these stories from the anti-Conservative angle until Labour are back in power. Then we will see a REAL sh*tshow. I don’t think anybody cares about some British tower burning down— especially when we have a climate crisis on our hands which is bound to burn AND flood even more buildings. How about instead of reporting on bias stories, you focus more on the life endangering issue? And yet you lot tried to blame the brave firefighters! GavinBarwell should’ve pulled his finger out sooner given the warnings he’d received and ignored as housing minister michaelgove RidgeOnSunday instead he was given the job of chief of staff! Avanti West Coast set to axe spate of Saturday servicesThe firm said it was due to high staff shortages and encouraged commuters to travel on Friday or Sunday instead, or claim a refund.
