Concern over officials' links to failed bank Greensill Capital spark a crackdown in Whitehall.

Mr Crothers had been the government's chief procurement officer prior to being taken on by Greensill, which has since collapsed.

He said the need to give civil servants the chance to gain experience life outside Whitehall has been "recognised for many decades by successive governments". Mr Case ordered colleagues to declare by the end of the week if they "come across" instances of senior civil servants with second jobs or outside interests "which might conflict with their obligations under the [Civil Service] Code".image copyrightMr Crothers joined Greensill as an adviser to its board in September 2015, while he remained a Civil Service employee.

In a letter to Acoba's chairman, Lord Pickles, Mr Crothers wrote: "I am concerned that there may be a view that I did not follow proper process regarding my role with Greensill Capital. Mr Cameron has said he did not break any codes of conduct or rules on lobbying, and welcomes the government's review.

KEEP YOUR SECOND JOBS, AND PISS OFF OUT OF GOVERNMENT, JOB FIXED!!

it won't happen-the gravy train will keep on rolling because the greed is good cabal have been allowed to govern by the thick and ignorant.

Sleazy Tories deflecting attention from Dodgy Dave, Sunak and Hancock.

Same old same old. Declare jobs, have somebody partial and incompetent look at it, and leave everything as it is. Standard government practice (because this is not just a Tory thing; they're just not as good at hiding it)

monzurahmed1 When a scandal becomes a 'row'...

BBCPolitics I work for a University and if someone I know through work was to give me, say, a bottle of wine for my birthday, I would have to declare it. Never mind declaring second jobs: they work for us so we should ban second jobs.

Focus on the corrupt politicians.

Usual BBC Far-Left propaganda.

Amazing how it's immediately about Civil Servants and not Cameron and Sunak. Come on , do better, or you are complicit in ToryCorruption

How about Civil Servants not having second jobs?

BBC lays groundwork for Johnson scapegoats.

Very nice, now what about investigations into government minister corruption?
