Greater Manchester Police’s chief constable has quit after the force was put in special measures
A report by Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire and Rescue Services last week said it was ‘deeply troubled’ that it appeared thousands of cases were closed without proper investigation. ‘Considering what is best for GMP and the communities we serve, and given my current ill health, I have decided to stand down from the post of Chief Constable with immediate effect.
