Angela Rayner, Labour’s deputy leader, said: ‘Boris Johnson has gone missing in action again. He’s back to his old tricks of skipping important Cobra meetings.

‘The public will have no confidence in this zombie Conservative government responding swiftly and decisively to this national emergency as this disgraced Prime Minister prepares to party while Britain boils.Daytime temperatures today are predicted to be around 27°C in London, 26°C in Cardiff, 23°C in Belfast and 21°C in Edinburgh.

Emergency bank holiday would be rather nice 😎😎😎😎… could finish packing for my flight on Tuesday.. it will make a nice change for the temp to be the same at takeoff as landing 😬

I suggest a year long lockdown to protect granny from the heat.

It's 24 degrees here. Hardly a high temperature but just to be safe, send more money to the Ukraine.

Can't be that bad because the Prime Minister didn't bother going *sarcasm

Climate lockdowns incoming

Meanwhile in another universe this is what BorisJohnson will be doing.

Says so much about the British population that they need to be told what to do in hot weather that many countries get on a daily basis. There was nothing like this in 1976 as people had common sense.

We know we can trust this Govt to protect the people. I mean look how quickly they got us to ignore SARS! It's only a 'mild' extreme heatwave!

UK heatwave could put people's lives at risk, Met Office warns, as 'national emergency' declaredThere is a 50% chance of temperatures reaching 40C somewhere in the UK, with the Met Office issuing its first-ever red warning for extreme heat. The UK Health Security Agency increased its heat health warning from level three to level four - a 'national emergency'. Seems to me that this happened in 1976, and a few summers since that I can remember. I don’t remember any excess deaths, they are priming us for sudden death, the weather will be the culprit in lieu of another culprit. ? I am in Lancashire today and it is 10 C and cloudy so heatwave is missing .?
