THE government is cracking down on adults who have sex with teens in their care by reviewing a legal loophole.
At present the law only allows for adults in certain jobs to be prosecuted for the same act, such as teachers or social workers. Campaigners say the current legal definition of adults in a “position of trust” leaves teens vulnerable to being groomed. We are looking at how the law around sexual offences is working, to ensure young people are protected"These abhorrent crimes rightly carry tough sentences — including life imprisonment — but we recognise how horrific abuse of power can be. That is why we are looking at how the law around sexual offences is working, to ensure young people are protected."Seven instructors were struck off for serious offences including sexual assaults and sending explicit messages to students.
