'Labour MP Ian Lucas slammed it as an ‘outrageous’ misuse of public funds'

The Tories have been accused of using public funds to target voters in key swing constituencies through Facebook ads.

The adverts were part of Government campaign My Town, which seeks residents’ view on how to improve where they live. The adverts went live when it became clear a December election would take place but before the Government entered purdah – the pre-election period which requires it to remain neutral.
