With Google AI bot and that level of conversation, it might be hard to determine if/when an AI does become sentient. I can think if a lot of people less 'sentient' than that.

Now imagine many of these AIs existing in one made up AI world, thinking it is a normal occurrence. Death for them is being turned off. Now if you look inward at us, it’s the same principle. Death is us being turned off.

If a guy has poor perception skills or intuitive feelings he can observe and learn from his friends and emulate, eg; how to chat up girls. This doesn't improve his sentience; he has just taught himself what he can't do instinctively. I'd worry more if LaMDA had instincts.

After working with AI a bit, I still don’t see how it could ever be remotely sentient. It literally has the code from a human to query and store info and a human programmed how it should do that. It analyzes pattens and knows how to output it. It’s just like the music making AI
