The mother of Gogglebox star George Gilbey has shared the last words between her and her son before his tragic death, aged 40. Mr Gilbey was best known for appearing on the Channel 4 series alongside his mother Linda McGarry and stepfather Pete McGarry, who died aged 71 in 2021.
While the police are continuing to investigate the death along with the Health and Safety Executive, an inquest into Mr Gilbey's death was opened at Essex Coroners' Court last Monday where Coroners' officer Deborah Frost said: "On March 27, Mr Gilbey was working on a roof when he fell through a plastic skylight and landed on the ground below. An ambulance was called and treated Mr Gilbey at the scene, but he sadly died.
Now George's heartbroken mum Linda has revealed that her late son phoned her just hours before his tragic fall - and has shared what the final words were that he told her before his shock death. The 74-year-old reality star - whose husband Pete died in 2021 - fought back tears while talking about her late son.
Continuing in her conversation with The Sun, Linda shared the touching final message he told her as their conversation came to an end. She revealed: “He had a drink the night before, and liked a bottle of white wine or two, but was happy that he was working. He ended the phone call by saying, ‘I love you’ like he usually did. I treasure those words.”
