Gogglebox families who were axed from show

There are strict rules that Gogglebox families must follow, and when they don't, consequences ensue. When the show first hit our screens, who would have thought that watching families lounging on their sofas while indulging in TV shows would become such a hit?

The Michaels' political departure The Michaels were one of the original families on the show when it first aired in 2013 - but they lost their status after four series, reports the Mirror. They were a beloved part of Gogglebox until Andrew Michael announced his intention to run as an MP for UKIP in the 2015 general election. Beforehand, he shared with Radio Times: "Having seen 13 families in their natural habitat, you have an insight into British society in its multifarious colours."

Carolyne was tearful about the decision, having to choose between the show and her husband's political career, and took to Twitter to express her feelings: "It's with great sadness that we must say goodbye to the wonderful Gogglebox family. Andy entering politics so can no longer stay with it," adding, "We've loved every minute of our involvement. It's the best show on TV and I want to thank everyone for their wonderful support. We'll miss you.

"Now I have stepped down from my official position as prospective parliamentary candidate," Andrew revealed, "I was happy to step down in order to pick up Gogglebox."George Gilbey's Big Brother exit George Gilbey first gained popularity in series two, alongside his mum Linda and stepdad Pete McGarry, quickly becoming viewer favourites. The Essex-based family won over viewers with their hilarious antics, but their time on the show was short-lived.

"It's all about money. They are pretty cash-strapped and so you can see why they would accept the offer to go on Big Brother," Chantal said.During his time in the CBB house, George became known for his romantic escapades, initially getting close to Stephanie Pratt, even sharing a kiss and professing his love for The Hills star.
