General Motors has said it will retire the iconic Australian car brand Holden as it leaves more markets. The American car giant said it will wind down Holden sales, design and engineering operations in Australia and New Zealand by next year.The announcement come three years after GM ended manufacturing in Australia.
In a statement posted on GM's website, chief executive Mary Barra said:"I've often said that we will do the right thing, even when it's hard, and this is one of those times." The statement did not say how many jobs would be lost as a result of the move but reports suggest it will mean up to 600 layoffs.
Gone, but not forgotten. Thanks GM, please keep killing beloved car brands...

Holden ceased manufacturing in Australia years ago.
Holdens started in Gawler the Adelaide South Australia as saddle and harness makers, grew to be GMs biggest exporters through Asia, Africa and Oceania, reduced to one plant, then reduced again now folded. All to keep American Jobs!!!!

Given that manufacturing in Australia ceased years ago and they are only selling rebadged SUVs it makes sense.
This is wrong, Holden was survived by Australians and now Australians will lose their jobs 😔
One of the biggest mistakes GM made was taking a Holden Monaro and calling it a GTO. As if muscle car enthusiasts wouldn't see through that a mile away.
