Sergeant Mark Burns was happy to put on his cap which arrived on Monday and said he is already used to wearing the reinforced baseball-style headgear on searches and similar duties. A spokesman for Gloucestershire Constabulary said:"We introduced a single hard cap [bump cap] to replace the traditional headgear of police officers and PCSOs following careful consideration and consultation.

Very easy to comment when we do not need to wear the headgear. If it is safer for the officer or pcso then that is the priority and I would not be concerned if I was in need of assistance if they turned up in a cap. Traditional uniform can still be worn as and when necessary.
How inaccurate reporting as LancsPolice been using the caps for a couple of years now, but I agree with the Burger King comment!! Embarrassing when delivering death notices etc
