Gartloch Hospital has stood in the east end for over a hundred years, and was left to the elements until 1996 when developers came in to salvage it.
Since its closure, many of the surrounding buildings were converted into homes or demolished to create Gartloch Village - though the Category A listed building remains intact, though derelict. While it was initially opened as a psychiatric hospital, patients were transferred during the outbreak of World War Two - to make room for an emergency centre, with huts erected on the grounds for extra wards.
