A couple were in their home at Lochaber Drive in Rutherglen when they overheard someone in their back garden at midnight last October 19.They saw him in an unlocked garden shed and going through the contents within.Police were contacted. Officers attended and carried out an area search.Police identified and found the man described to them. Welsh was taken to London Road police office, where he was cautioned and charged and made no reply.
Welsh, of Cessnock, appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court this week after previously pleading guilty to being found in the curtilage of the property, with a reasonable inference that he intended to steal. Sheriff Charles Lugton revealed the 24-year-old is already on two community payback orders and is “doing well”.“The constructive thing for me to do is let you get on with that.“I will defer sentence for six months and call for a good behaviour report and progress reports on the two orders.Welsh will return to court in January.
