An aircraft, which took off from Glasgow Airport, issued a mid-air alert and was forced into an emergency landing earlier today.
The British Airways plane declared a 'Squawk 7700’ , which is used during a general crisis, shortly after crossing the border into England this morning. It is believed that fumes had been detected on board according to social media account Flight Emergency.The BA9275 set off from Glasgow Airport at 11.28am and was due to land at London Heathrow at 12.14pm.Air traffic controllers give priority to any flight that has utilised a squawk code over other planes in the area.
The aircraft can be seen on a map circling Manchester Airport twice before coming into land at around 12.19pm.
