A Glasgow ASDA checkout operator has been showered in praise - for paying for a customer's shopping bill after her card was declined at the till.
The remarkable act of kindness took place at the ASDA Maryhill store in Summerston, and subsequently found itself being shared on community Facebook page No1Seems2care. The bill for the "stressed" customer's shopping is reported to have totalled £63.34, and was paid by a member of ASDA staff named Eleanor despite being 'a complete stranger' to the checkout operator.Eleanor herself contacted No1Seems2care to say that made the decision to pay the bill 'based simply on faith, trust and humanity' and that she 'knew the lady was having a bad day and she believed she would return the money, which she did'.
A modest Eleanor added her actions were 'her good deed for the day', and thanked well-wishers who have commented on her decision to help the lady. The community group shared a post about it in the hope Eleanor's 'remarkable' actions could be acknowledged 'at a higher level'.Sign up to Glasgow Live's newsletter Get all the latest Glasgow news and headlines sent straight to your inbox twice a day by signing up to our free newsletter.
