The group of primary school children were left in tears after the dangerous dog went for one of the pupils and was "hanging onto her". Shocked eyewitness said the huge animal, which allegedly wasn't on a lead, "latched onto" a young girl as teachers desperately tried to pull her away.
Speaking to the Manchester Evening News, the journalism student said: "We were walking to the Tesco and walked round the back of the Watersports Centre. "It was pretty scary. The girl was in tears for ages after. Loads of the other kids were crying as well. The workers at the Watersports Centre offered for the kids to go in there. He added: "As we walked away it was causing chaos on the waterfront again. Then a police van turned up"
