A 16-year-old girl has died after being hit by a car in Oldham. Emergency services rushed to the scene on Rochdale Road around 1.30pm on Thursday afternoon .
Despite the best efforts of paramedics, the girl was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. A man in his 20s was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.He currently remains in custody waiting to be quizzed by detectives. The case has been referred to GMP's Serious Collision Investigation Unit.
Pictures from the scene showed a large number of police and emergency services in attendance. A damaged black vehicle was visible within the cordon.
