King Charles granted the wish of Prime Minister Rishi Sunak to dissolve Parliament with the announcement on Wednesday of a looming general election on July 4.

The Royal Family are to 'postpone' any public engagements following the news of a general election being called, in a bid not to "divert attention or distract" from the election campaigns.
