The terror attack has knocked the prime minister off his Brexit message and onto far less sure territory, writes Sky's Beth Rigby.

Writing in the Mail on Sunday, he implored the public to send him back with a majority so he could change the law to ensure terrorists are not released early from prison.

There are two themes here. One is to try to shift the blame onto Labour - and raise again the"security risk" of a Corbyn government. On the matter of the blame game, the row over whether Labour or the Conservative government are to blame for the laws that meant Khan was released early ensured attention was scattered rather than focused solely on the Conservatives' record in government.Conservative ministers have also pounced on Mr Corbyn'sthat convicted terrorists should"not necessarily" serve their full prison sentences to plug their attack line that Labour is"weak on law on order".

It’s a delicate situation & no matter what Boris said, it would be construed as politicising. All parties should stop point scoring & agree to clamp down hard on terrorist activities & stop hand wringing about the rights of those who kill & maim innocents.
