Gary Neville believes Liverpool would be certain contenders for the Premier League title if they had Declan Rice in their midfield.
Many predicted City to stroll to a fourth consecutive title this term, though Pep Guardiola's side have now lost back-to-back Premier League matches for the first time since 2018 after being beaten by the Gunners on Sunday evening. Liverpool will be looking to fight their way to top spot come May, despite being predicted by many to scrape a Champions League place. Of the view the Reds will come close but fail to get over the line, Neville has identified the holding midfield role as a problem position that could derail a title bid from Jurgen Klopp's side.
"They have got an outstanding goalkeeper that I always think will keep them in a lot of football matches and strikers who can score goals and lots of them. They have got a good forward line, the midfield is attacking but has it got the defensive stability of what we've seen here today ? When Rodri comes back in and you see Rice and Partey, have they got that defensive stability?"
