The former culture secretary tweets her anger that her policies on BBC licence fee, Channel 4 privatisation and Online Safety Bill have been shelved or watered down

on the sale of Channel 4, the BBC licence fee review and the Online Safety Bill – which had been agreed in Cabinet – would remain in place under the current premiership.

But responding to a tweet on Monday, which had questioned whether the PM has a democratic mandate to overhaul policies that were not in the 2019 manifesto, Ms Dorries made clear her agenda was being shelved or watered down – and that Ms Truss had to call an election. Ms Dorries tweeted: “Widespread dismay at the fact that 3 years of work has effectively been put on hold. No one asked for this.

“C4 sale, online safety, BBC licence fee review – all signed off by cabinet all ready to go, all stopped.
