Peter Kay 's opening shows at the brand new Co-Op Live arena were dramatically pulled at the last minute on Monday - with the news that the building is not yet ready to fully open. But bosses say the venue WILL be ready to host the public from Saturday, April 27 when The Black Keys will perform.
And it is set to hit the ground running as it has gigs scheduled for the equivalent of every other night in May and June - with 33 gigs across the two months involving some of the world's biggest music stars. The venue is set to welcome the likes of Olivia Rodrigo for back-to-back gigs on May 4 and 5, as well as the arrival of homecoming manband Take That for a total of SEVEN gigs in May and June.
June will also see American rock legends Eagles pay their only UK tour dates on their farewell tour. They will play to sold out crowds across four dates at Co-Op Live on June 1, 4, 7 and 8.They said: "Following our first test event on Saturday, regretfully we have made the difficult decision to reschedule our two opening performances by Peter Kay. These dates will move from 23 April and 24 Wednesday to Monday 29 and Tuesday 30 April.
"This is vital to satisfy the rigorous set of guidelines and protocols that are necessary for a venue of this size.
