Oil companies and government officials have stressed there is no fuel shortage So, why are Britons panic-buying petrol?

Oil companies, including Shell, ExxonMobil and Greenergy, have stressed that there is no petrol shortage, saying the pressures on supply were being caused by "temporary spikes in customer demand - not a national shortage of fuel"."There isn't a shortage," Environment Secretary George Eustice said on Monday. "The most important thing is that people just buy petrol as they normally would.

There is estimated to be a shortage of more than 100,000 drivers in the UK, and it has been causing problems for a range of industries - from supermarkets to fast food chains - in recent months.because of a shortage of lorry drivers. Few other oil companies had similar problems at that point. While there is evidence of heavy goods vehicle driver shortages across Europe, the UK has been among the hardest hit by the problem.

But several newspapers report that Prime Minister Boris Johnson and senior members of his cabinet are considering just that. The Guardian newspaper says they will scrutinise Operation Escalin - an operation conceived during the planning for a no-deal Brexit that would see hundreds of soldiers drafted in to drive a reserve fleet of 80 tankers.

How about clapping for the HGV drivers and Petrol Station staff

Cos they are fucking idiots

Because we don’t believe a word the government say and the media kept talking about fuel and food storages for over a week!!

1 Fact፡ Humaniterian community is working on how countries are demolished through transporting gun for the needy and provide multisector assistants for the displaced people duet their gun and armament supplies. !!

Petrol stations can only hold a certain amount of fuel, that would normally be adequate between deliveries, but due to the media people started to panic, hey presto now a shortage at the pumps.

We aren't short of fuel it's too many buying at once due to scaremongering media again

Because the media don’t shut up about it

Because there is no one to deliver this plentiful fuel. A crisis that was widely predicted but what action was taken ……. Erm none!

I have lived in Kenya for 40 years and have never experienced a fuel shortage.

Just seen it reported on BBC - 37% of filling stations dry. Not true in NE Hampshire area tonight 32 adjacent stations in Fleet, Basingstoke, Odiham, Farnborough, Camberley, Yateley all dry. That is 100% in the combined area.

Prime example of self-made problem.

Because YOU the BBC stated days ago that shortages will happen because of driver shortages.

There's no fuel shortage, just a lack of tanker drivers. That's why gov have put all of 150 army personnel on standby Surely there's more than that in the army? Gov just waiting for cheap labour to come over and bail us out of their incompetence

It's a self made problem, like panic buying toilet rolls, tinned food, frozen food etc. Its all about self. T Self made issues with folk always looking for someone or something else to blame.

Panic 😱

Media like BBC being divs DefundTheBBC

I've just drove straight into the garage filled up and left as I always do once a week. Why are the media pushing this so much why are they trying to cause problems that don't exist?

Because the BBCWalesNews fails in its attempt to inform the public torybackers

Thye are panic buying due to the fact you have stated on your news programmes that we have a shortage

There are different types of buyers. 1 drivers tops up weekly.... 2. Panic buy petrol for absolutely no reason and creates chaos

The UK are panic buying fuel because of YOU!!! and SkyNews making it sound worse than it is and scaring the country into panic buying, you did this in lockdown and people bulk bought toilet roll... You all need to stop being so dramatic to boost ratings!!

Simple, the BBC along with the rest of MSM media hyped up a non existences situation. I believe it came from a man who worked for two decades on BBC News programs.

Why WHY you are you serious GMB along with other news channels ran a story telling us there is a fuel shortage a tanker driver shortage STOP SELLING SENSATIONALISM we are sick of it, if there was a war now you’d be telling the enemy where the missiles from and too

Because our economy has lost the resilience of being in the single market due to Brexit.

Because YOU bbc are promoting fuel shortages!

There was no petrol at my local garage over THREE WEEKS AGO, I was close to empty. What did I do - go down the road to next one, fill up as I always do only once a month. Did I go on Twitter and report the lack of petrol? NO, why? because why cause a panic…..

Due to bbc and bp BS……

Because they’re basically stupid

Because you numpties started making a massive noise over a handful of petrol stations where shortages were caused by a small shortage of tanker drivers! You pressed the panic button to make news, now there’s panic & news! I’m sure you’re very pleased with yourselves!!

It I your fault...you reported a shortage when there wasn't one

THE MEDIA THE BRITH PUBLIC WHERE THE BLAME SHOULD BE. A WEEK AGO NOT A PROBLEM. A SNIFF OF AN ISSUE AND THE MEDIA MAKES A BIG ISSUE AND THE BRITISH PUBLIC BELIEVES THEIR SHIT. THE MAJOR SYMPTOM OF COVID STUPIDLY AND LACK OF COMMON SENSE. ARE YOU PROUD OF WHAT THE UK HAS BECOME?

Because BBC news reported a problem getting fuel to forecourts due to a shortage of drivers. It's similar to reporting the easing of restrictions on Covid, all a lot of the public hear is 'it's all over'.

It's crazy. They should be panic buying toilet paper like us Americans do.

Làm sao để ti582m thôi không đau nữa!

But there is not HGV drivers to bring the fuel where people need it, is this all due to Brexit?

If they suspended the silly course’s u have to do to keep your HGV license there’d be a lot more divers available they have nothing to do with driving it’s ridiculous

Just no fuel at the pumps due to Brexit - we have lost the flexibilities of the single market and working conditions are better in the rest of Europe.

Are you really asking that question!!!? You created it, if YOU hadn't reported it this situation would never have happened, but you know that and you knew this would be the outcome so why did you really do this? To see how the great unwashed are so easily manipulated.

Better to thank all those intelligent nationalists that vote for Brexit.

Because Mr Johnson is now someone no-one has confidence in. That causes panic

Try taking a look in the mirror. Lots of irresponsible stories from the media is the cause of the panic buying!

Maybe coz you guys are scaring people

Because of irresponsible main stream media reporting - that’s it. That’s the answer!

Because of the like of you and skynews

Because of the media. I.e. you!

I’d hazard a guess the reply’s aren’t going the way you expected 🤔

Because they’re daft! And Boris set it up as yet another deflection

😂😂😂 you’re asking why people are panic buying….. 🤦‍♀️ Maybe it’s because you and the MSM over the weekend fuelled (pardon the pun) the panic with scaremongering headlines so everyone went crazy and still are!! Absolute numpties! 🤯

Because neither oil companies nor Govt have got the fuel to the point of sale! If it’s no at the PoS then there is a shortage! No amount of saying there isn’t will convince anyone!

Because the media stoked them up

The BBC have a part to play in it.....

The sheep are on the march. Follow the leader !

We have a logistics crisis.

Martial law is needed to prevent stupid UK motorists from needlessly taking fuel others need

Because they are selfish and believe it's fine to fill up & PARK for the 'just in case' which is idiotic when they live in a town. Leave the fuel for those who need to drive - ambulances, country dwellers & trades who carry equipment such as plumbers, locksmiths, carers & nurses.

Because they’re fucking regards

Because the panic buyers are fruit loops!

Because you told them there was a shortage

There is a shortage as every muppet is filling up

Because you keep reporting there is

They are selfish!!

So what exactly did you think would happen when you ran an “innocuous” piece “BP closes some sites due to lorry driver shortage” last week. Did you give this any thought? Any?

Because you panicked them 🙄

Because the media keep telling us there is a fuel shortage

Unfortunately I can't use the words I want to on this platform. Too much self centred thinking.

Everyone having a good ol fisty shake at the media, saying they caused it. Genuine question.. .. if a national supply chain of a highly critical resource can be brought to its knees by a few media outlets. Is this supply chain adequate or does it have significant weakness?

YOU caused this. DefundTheBBC

1. Because of stupid reporting. 2. Because most people are stupid.

Because of you!

Maybe has something to do with BorisJohnson most don’t believe him because of all his lies so when he goes on tv saying don’t panic we expect a U turn at any minute saying we should panic

Because we're fucking insane. See: Brexit.

BBC told everyone that there was on Friday and set people panicking. If you don't know tge power of your influence on public reactions to your broadcast you should be shut down

Because of you media 🔔ends causing panic buying.

Because YOU sold the lie!

We don't trust the Government and Oil companies ?

Oh, The Government said it. Why didn't anyone say?

Because you did a news piece with BP saying they were running out of fuel!!!

So why are the BBC still labelling it as such!? If it wasn't for the irresponsible reporting throughout, the nation wouldn't been this predicament in the first place. Congratulations again.

Because news broadcasters have nothing interesting to report, so continue to tell the same story 100 times over. panicbuying starts, and let’s face it, they will never change, then hey presto we have a problem. fuelshortage report something positive for a change!…simple

Great marketing plow. Just tell the BBC there is shortage of your product and see sales go through the roof. .

So the Brits will have a garage full of petrol ⛽ bog rolls and beans, while the world laughs at the Brexit situation they voted for the tools

I visited 4 stations today, all empty. I'm running on fumes now. 😕

Why are they issuing temporary visas for Driving then 🤔

Because the bbc are to blame for reporting that petrol station we’re running out of fuel when it was a handful Your worse than the tabloids

Cos we're all cunts.

10DowningStreet People are panic buying because the media especially the BBC keep going on about it and therefore creating the frenzy. Shame on you BBC !!

Because of the pricks in the media scaremongering

Trolling of the highest order 👆👆👆

Arse holes

Because stupid main stream media outfits like BBC news have been scaremongering with media hype! Are you seriously asking such a stupid question?! 🤔🤷🏼‍♂️🤔🤦🏼‍♂️

Quite simple , no one believes a word this government tells us , and a large dose of good old fashioned selfishness, me me me , in other words good old capitalism !!

All closed near me 12 in total gave up. Try tomorrow ….if not then I won’t be going into work

Media panic merchants?

Yet the BBC keeps telling everyone that there is! 🤔

Because greedy idiots in this country would panic buy monkey vomit if they were told it was running out!

ScumMedia

Mugs! In other news BBC News puts out blanket ban on the word ‘Brexit’ With Boris threatening to take funding away from the BBC they have to be seen as towing the party line.. Journalism 0 - 6 Jingoism and rising…

Its you lot making it worse.

Because some need to transport their tools to workplace……….“So, why are Britons panic-buying petrol?” Can’t get any fuel been trying since last night. Lost wages now. 🤬🤦🏻‍♀️💩🥺

Good god you’ve got some brass neck, they’re panic buying because you reported a few temporarily closed fuel stations as a national shortage when it was nothing of the sort. You are entirely to blame for these problems and you should be sanctioned.

Because you told them there was!!!

Some say the BBC spreading panic.

You could always run a story next week saying Turkey shortage at Christmas... then guess what will inevitably happen Irresponsible journalism.

Because of irresponsible media reporting
