I wad thinking exactly that thought when I was cycling alone the A315 this morning--outside of the cycle lane of course there was a row of parked cars in the cycle lane, which had a red line and an unbroken white line.
A painted line does not represent investment in cycling infrastructure.
We have dove nothing to enforce it, and now no one cares. It’s an absolute mystery why.
A good traffic warden and a hefty fine would solve this within weeks, Word of mouth and a nice chunk of money coming out your pocket, soon sharpens your awareness of cycle lanes and double yellows.
Maybe when councils designed these lanes what would be prudent is to increase car/motorcycle space and also designated delivery spaces that would not obstruct the lanes
There are also double yellow lines so totally enforceable
